Beyoncé continues to be a trailblazer as she became the first Black woman to have a No. 1 hit country song.
Billboard revealed on Tuesday, February 20, that Beyoncé's new single "Texas Hold 'Em" reached the top of the Hot Country List. Her second song "16 Carriages" also made the list in the No. 9 spot. The tracks are currently on the Billboard 100 chart in the 2nd and 38th spot, respectively. Billboard also noted that Beyoncé is the first woman to have a No. 1 song on both Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
Rolling Stone later reported that Beyoncé is the first Black woman to achieve the top spot on the Hot Country List since its creation in 1958.
Beyoncé debuted her new country music era when she dropped the tracks after announcing her upcoming album, Renaissance Act II, during Super Bowl LVIII earlier this month. Renaissance Act II hits shelves on March 29.
Lainey Wilson and More Stars Are Embracing Beyonce's Country Music
After releasing "Texas Hold 'Em," Beyoncé faced some pushback from some country music stations. One station in Oklahoma City denied listeners' requests to play the song. However, the station walked back the decision after receiving backlash.
"We initially refused to play it in the same manner if someone requested us to play the Rolling Stones on our country station," general manager Roger Harris said in a statement at the time. "Fact is we play Beyoncé on TWO of our other stations and love her … she is an icon. We just didn't know about the song … then when we found out about it, we tried to get the song … which we did and we have already played it 3 times on YKC, our country station. We also play her on 105.5, KXFC-FM and KADA-FM 0n 99.3."

Despite facing pushback from some country music radio stations, many of the genre's stars and personalities have rallied around Beyoncé. Lainey Wilson shared that she loved having the Grammy winner expand into country music and welcomed her with open arms.
"The more the merrier," Wilson, 31, told Extra in an interview published on Monday, February 19. "[Country music] is about that storytelling, it's about making people feel at home. And everybody wants to feel at home. … I love Beyoncé."
Everything to Know About Beyonce's New Album 'Renaissance Act II'
While Beyoncé is best known for her work in R&B, the singer has always had roots in country music as she grew up in Texas. Her mom, Tina Knowles, confessed that both Beyoncé and daughter Solange spent a lot of time embracing "cowboy culture."
"I actually laugh because it's been there since she was a kid. We went to rodeos every year and my whole family dressed in western fashion," she wrote via Instagram on Saturday, February 17. "Solange did a whole brilliant album and project based on Black Cowboy Culture. It definitely was a part of our culture growing up."
Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: 'Obviously, The Goal Is Always Seven Rings'
Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL, likely already the best of his generation and has three Super Bowls to his name before turning 30 — and there's plenty more to come.
And the Kansas City Chiefs star is intent on that being the case.
"I think it's more than just me trying to be the best that I can be. I don't want to have any regrets at the end of my career, and I know how great of an organization, how great of a coach [Andy Reid], tight end [Travis Kelce], players that I have around me, and I don't want to let that slide by. I want to make sure I maximize my opportunities," Mahomes said when asked about trying to match and/or surpass Tom Brady's seven career Super Bowls to NFL Network Monday.
"Obviously, the goal is always seven [rings]. It's always to try to get as much as you can. And so, all I can do is just try to maximize my opportunities every single day, continue to work to be better not only for myself but for my team, and we'll see what happens at the end of my career."
Mahomes finished Kansas City's thrilling, overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII with 333 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, one interception and a 99.3 passer rating, while completing 73.9% of his passes. He was also the Chiefs' leading rusher with 66 yards on 7.3 yards per carry — including a pair of pivotal runs to move the chains on their game-winning drive.
In the regular season, Mahomes totaled 4,183 passing yards, 27 passing touchdowns, 14 interceptions and a 92.6 passer rating, while completing 67.2% of his passes. He also ran for 389 yards.
Across Kansas City's four postseason games, Mahomes totaled 1,051 passing yards, six passing touchdowns, one interception and a 100.3 passer rating, while completing 69.8% of his passes. He also ran for 141 yards.
Have Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs become a DYNASTY after Super Bowl LVIII?Mahomes, who has been Kansas City's starter the past six seasons (2018-23), is already a six-time Pro Bowler, three-time Super Bowl MVP, two-time All Pro and two-time NFL MVP. He has led the NFL in passing touchdowns twice (2018 and 2022), doing so in his first season as the team's starter with an absurd 50 touchdowns — becoming just the third quarterback in NFL history to accomplish that feat (Peyton Manning had 55 in 2013, and Brady had 50 in 2007).
Mahomes also led the sport with 5,250 passing yards in 2022, while the Chiefs won back-to-back Super Bowls after trading wide receiver and five-time All-Pro Tyreek Hill after the 2021 season.
Mahomes turns 29 on Sept. 17.

For the second consecutive year, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson was regarded as a hot commodity on the NFL head-coaching market but came up empty. The Washington Commanders were frequently linked to Johnson, but did the Lions coach take issue with some members of the franchise?
Johnson was "turned off" by Washington's ownership group for being "basketball guys," considering them too confident in their football judgment, ESPN reported Saturday.
The Commanders recently concluded their first season with Josh Harris as owner, going 4-13. Additionally, Harris is a co-owner of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and NHL's New Jersey Devils.
Washington was the last team to fill its head-coaching vacancy, which was created when Ron Rivera was fired after four seasons at the helm (26-40-1 in the regular season, 0-1 in the postseason). The Commanders hired former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator and Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn.
Johnson, 37, now returns to the Lions for a sixth season, including his third as offensive coordinator under head coach Dan Campbell. The now-offensive coordinator was an offensive quality control coach (2019), tight ends coach (2020-21) and passing game coordinator (2021) for Detroit before getting the full-time playcalling nod in 2022.
Prior to joining the Lions, Johnson was an offensive assistant for the Miami Dolphins from 2012-18; Johnson and Campbell were on the same coaching staff in Miami from 2012-15.
Under Johnson, the Lions have boasted one of the best offenses in the NFL. They averaged 394.8 total yards (third in the NFL) and 27.1 points (fifth) per game in the regular season, while averaging 380.0 total yards (fourth) and 26.6 points (fifth) in 2022.
Quarterback Jared Goff has experienced a career resurgence under Johnson's playcalling, totaling 4,575 passing yards, 30 passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 97.9 passer rating, while completing a career-high 67.3% of his passes this season. In 2022, Goff totaled 4,438 passing yards, 29 passing touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 99.3 passer rating, while completing 65.1% of his passes.
Does Ben Johnson returning make the Detroit Lions NFL FAVORITES next year? The Lions went 12-5 this season, winning the NFC North for the first time in franchise history. They went on to beat the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs before losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.
