An individual spent several night shifts caring for patients at Winnipeg's St. Boniface Hospital in July despite not actually being employed there, the regional health authority said.  The person worked the shifts between July 2 and July 17, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority said in a press release on Thursday.  Health-care aides perform various duties in hospitals and long-term care facilities, such as helping move patients, bathing and dressing them, and simple wound care.  The individual had registered for a health-care aide training program offered through Shared Health, the organization that co-ordinates health care in Manitoba, but didn't complete it.  Nevertheless, they called the staffing office at St. Boniface Hospital, saying they were a newly hired health-care aide, and were subsequently scheduled for a shift at the hospital, said the news release from the health authority. After they completed their first s

Cast All Your Care On Him - Aurora Advertiser

Bryan Cook  |  Union Grove Church 1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Most people do not seek Godly wisdom in circumstances. They usually go to everyone else before they go to Godly council. I have learnt over the years that within Gods written word is wisdom and examples of how God led others through problems in their life. As a christian you should have a knowledge of what Gods word says. I praise God for Pastors and Evangelist and Teachers and all the other ministry gifts God has given the church. If you only depend on them to give you what you need you're going to come up short and lacking. You must establish a personal relationship with Jesu

V.A. Issues Vaccine Mandate for Health Care Workers, a First for a Federal Agency - The New York Times

Image
Employees who provide direct patient care have eight weeks to get inoculated against the coronavirus or face penalties including possible removal. WASHINGTON — The Department of Veterans Affairs will require 115,000 of its frontline health care workers to be vaccinated against the coronavirus in the next two months, making it the first federal agency to mandate that employees be inoculated, government officials said on Monday. The move comes as concern is growing that the substantial portion of the population that has not been vaccinated is contributing to the rapid spread of the highly contagious Delta variant. While it was a sharp departure from the Biden administration's reluctance to embrace mandates, it was part of a broader shift in which New York City, many hospital chains and some private employers are deciding that the time has come to make being vaccinated a requirement. "I am doing this because it's the best way to keep our veterans safe, full stop," Denis

Movable Lump in Neck: Potential Causes and Treatment - Healthline

Image
A lump on your neck could be anything from a minor infection to a serious condition. Most moveable lumps aren't serious. In general, if the lump is soft and goes away on its own, it's probably nothing to worry about. A neck lump that persists, grows, or hurts could be a sign of infection or other illness. It's sometimes the only sign of head or neck cancer. But trying to figure it out on your own can be risky. Here, we'll discuss reasons moveable lumps form in the neck and why it's important to see a doctor. A lump in the neck can be so tiny that you find it only by accident. Some are big enough to feel with your fingers and some grow large enough that you don't have to touch it to know it's there. When you discover a lump, you might have concerns about cancer. Usually, soft moveable lumps aren't cancerous, but there are exceptions. A moveable lump means that you can easily move it beneath the skin with your fingertips. Swollen lymph nodes The most likel

Meningitis: Tests, symptoms, diagnosis - Medical News Today

Image
Meningitis occurs when the meninges, the protective coating around the brain and spinal cord, becomes inflamed. Because meningitis can be a life-threatening emergency, a person who thinks they may have meningitis should seek immediate medical care. A meningitis test can diagnose meningitis, and help determine what caused it. A cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis can definitively diagnose meningitis. However, a doctor may recommend additional tests to rule out other causes. If a doctor suspects bacterial meningitis, they may begin antibiotic treatment before meningitis test results come back. Meningitis causes swelling and inflammation of the meninges. The meninges are three membranes that protect the brain and spinal cord. Meningitis usually happens when an infection – often a virus or bacteria – travels to the meninges. Less commonly, a fungus or parasite can cause meningitis. Bacterial meningitis can kill a person within a few hours without treatment, while viral meningitis often go
