Update on City of San José Services and/or Operations

  • Tribute to Community, City Employees and Partners: The City of San José COVID-19 Recovery and Response team, in partnership with the Parks, Recreation, Neighborhood Services Department, created a tribute video to capture the struggles, challenges, and sacrifices made by many during the past two years. To our employees, our partners, and our community, we say thank you as we rise from this tumultuous event and provide support to one another in so many ways.
Update from the State of California
  • Updated Guidance for Mega Events: Effective April 1, the requirement for vaccine verification or proof of negative tests for attendees at Indoor Mega Events will move to a strong recommendation.

    NOTE:

On March 1, the San José City Council repealed its ordinance requiring vaccination for large indoor events at city-owned facilities, instructing the operators of those facilities to follow federal, state and county guidelines. Verifying vaccination or negative test status is still strongly recommended per state guidelines, and masking indoors strongly recommended per county guidelines.
Update from Santa Clara County
  • Stay Vigilant, Another Surge of COVID-19 Possible: Santa Clara County Health Officer Dr. Sara Cody last week advised residents to expect and prepare for a COVID-19 surge at some point in the future, despite the steady downward trend of cases. Dr. Cody specifically urged residents to continue ordering at-home tests supplied by the federal government and to maintain a steady supply of masks.

County test sites provide COVID-19 tests free of charge, regardless of immigration status, and no doctor's note is needed. For people without COVID-19 symptoms, the County currently offers indoor and drive-through sites. People with symptoms are directed to drive-through sites to reduce the chance of getting others sick.

All healthcare systems are required by Order of the Santa Clara County Health Officer to offer a COVID-19 test to persons with any symptoms of COVID-19, persons who have been exposed to a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, or persons who are required or recommended to have a COVID-19 test under State or county guidelines. For more information on testing rights, see the Patient Testing Notice.

All available test sites are mapped on the County's website at www.sccfreetest.org. The site is available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Tagalog. Information is also available by calling 2-1-1.
